The Vinnytsia community has provided 20 pickup trucks to the Air Force for mobile firing groups tasked with shooting down Russian Shahed drones.
This was reported by the Interregional Humanitarian Coordination Centre (IHCC) on March 10, 2025.
The SUVs were delivered to servicemen from four military units.
“There is a request for these vehicles to reinforce our defenders, and we are trying to fill it as much as possible,” said Vinnytsia Mayor Serhiy Morgunov.
For his part, the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Council, Viacheslav Sokolovyi, emphasized that defending the sky is crucial for the sustainable operation of the economy, infrastructure, and education.
This is not the first time the Vinnytsia community has supported the expansion of Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
In October, Militarnyi reported that Vinnytsia handed over 10 pickup trucks to Ukrainian soldiers to equip mobile firing groups that hunt for enemy drones.
Since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, mobile firing groups have been created to quickly strengthen air defenses.
Soldiers in off-road vehicles and trucks armed with machine guns, automatic cannons, and man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) ambush Russian kamikaze drones and cruise missiles targeting Ukrainian cities and strategic sites.
Whenever an air raid alert is triggered in Ukraine, mobile air defense fire groups are already in position and on full alert.
The creation of such groups was a necessary step taken by Ukraine’s military leadership to provide localized protection for infrastructure and other potential targets of Russian drone attacks.
