Ukrainian border guards have received Dita 155-mm wheeled self-propelled artillery systems as part of their arsenal.

The State Border Guard’s press service reported on this.

Border guards are already mastering the new weapons. Soon, as part of the Defense Forces, they will use this self-propelled howitzer to destroy the Russian invaders on the front line.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Netherlands ordered nine 155-mm Dita artillery systems from the Czech Republic for Ukraine and later six more.

However, it is yet unknown whether these self-propelled artillery systems were handed over to the State Border Guard Service or received in another way, such as through a state defense order.

At the end of December 2024, it was reported that the artillery of the 12th Azov Brigade received the Dita.

At the same time, Militarnyi reported that the National Guard had received these self-propelled guns back in November. The 3rd Operational Brigade “Spartan” of the National Guard also received such an artillery system.

The Czech company Excalibur Army designed and manufactured the Dita self-propelled artillery system based on the concept of the Czechoslovakian wheeled Dana vz.77.

This newest self-propelled artillery system has a high degree of automation: the commander does not need to control the vehicle at the firing position, he enters all the data into the onboard computer, and the driver receives the necessary parameters and instructions before the mission.

The ballistic computer of the self-propelled gun independently calculates the firing parameters, and the system’s automation independently aims the gun, charges the ammunition and propellant charge, and fires the shot.

The DITA has a fairly high rate of fire – 5-6 shots per minute, an ammunition capacity of 40 shells, and a range of up to 39 kilometers.

High cross-country mobility allows the vehicle to quickly change position after completing a fire mission and be maneuverable when driving over rough terrain.
