The Ukrainian Defense Forces hit a Russian Zoopark-M1 counter-battery radar in one of the areas of the front.
The press service of the 15th Artillery Brigade published the video of the precision strike.
The operators of the reconnaissance UAVs from the 15th Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade “Black Forest” detected and corrected the strike on the enemy radar.
The Russians’ counter-battery radar was detected at a position near a field road along a forest belt, where the crew probably hid their radar from Ukrainian reconnaissance assets when it was not working.
The enemy Zoopark-M1 was caught moving out of hiding and then deployed to its operational position to assist Russian artillery in striking Ukrainian defenders and conducting counter-battery fire.
The report does not specify when exactly and with what weapons the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the radar. It is also unknown in which area of the frontline it occurred.
Judging by the video footage, the Russian Zoopark-M1 was most likely hit by two GMLRS precision-guided missiles from HIMARS or M270 systems that Ukraine received from its Western partners.
The footage captured by the drone’s camera does not allow us to accurately assess the extent of the damage to the Russian radar station. However, judging by the accuracy of the hit, it is likely that the Zoopark-M1 sustained at least significant damage.
This radar is quite rare in the Russian army and expensive. Therefore, its loss is significant for the invaders.
The last time Militarnyi reported on the destruction of the Zoopark-1M counter-battery radar in the East was in September this year.
1L260 Zoopark-1M is a Russian reconnaissance and fire control radar system developed by the Tula-based Strelka Design Bureau, which was first introduced to the public in 2013. The system is equipped with a phased array antenna. It is designed to combat cannon artillery and missile systems by detecting their positions when firing mines, shells, or missiles. The system can also be used to correct artillery fire.
According to the manufacturer, Zoopark-1M is capable of detecting the location of 152/155-mm howitzers at a distance of up to 23 km with an error of up to 40 m and multiple launch rocket systems at a distance of no more than 45 km with an error of up to 50 m. The system’s crew consists of three people: a driver, a radar operator, and a vehicle commander.
