Over the past week, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have hit several Russian Buk anti-aircraft systems in the Donetsk region.
Militarnyi reports on this with reference to the military.
On January 2, Ukrainian soldiers of the 14th Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Force published footage capturing the destruction of the Buk-М1-2 SAM 9А310М1-2 TELAR.
Judging by the footage, a special forces unit detected the target, guided a Shark reconnaissance drone at it, and adjusted artillery fire.
As a result of the precision weapon hit and ammunition detonation, the combat vehicle was completely destroyed.
A day prior, on January 1, Ukrainian soldiers of the Medoid tactical task force from the 3rd Separate Special Purpose Regiment also discovered the Buk-М2 air defense system during reconnaissance actions in the Donetsk direction.
A reconnaissance drone spotted a launcher, a transport and load vehicle, and a 9S36 acquisition and tracking radar that is part of the SAM.
The SOF report states that the targets, including a radar station, were hit by fire from a missile system. Presumably, this was HIMARS.
The video shows missiles from one of the installations detonating as a result of the hit. However, it is not clear whether the nearby vehicles were significantly damaged.
Both Russian anti-aircraft systems were deployed in the Donetsk direction. The exact location of the Buk-М1-2 was geolocated (here) north of the city of Khartsyzk, 30 kilometers away from the nearest Ukrainian military-controlled territories in the Avdiyivka area.
Ukrainian special forces detected Buk-М2 (here) west of Donetsk, 10 kilometers from the line of contact.
On November 30, the Ukrainian military hit the installation of the Buk-М2 air defense system in the Kherson region at a distance of about 50 kilometers away from the controlled territory.
