The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an ATACMS ballistic missile strike against a Russian S-300 anti-aircraft system in the Donetsk region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released the footage of the attack.
Ukrainian missile launchers struck with at least four M39 cluster ballistic missiles at the firing positions of Russian anti-aircraft gunners located on the outskirts of Mariupol.
Citing intelligence, the Commander-in-Chief reported that a radar station and an unspecified number of launchers were confirmed to have been hit.
According to local residents, the missile attack was carried out on the night of July 15-16.
In the video, even before the ballistic missile strikes began, some part of the anti-aircraft system was already hit and burning. This may indicate that more missiles were used.
In addition, it is possible that the Ukrainian military could have resorted to a combined strike to destroy the anti-aircraft system, during which other weapon systems could have disabled the SAM’s radar.
This version can be partially confirmed by the operation of a Shark reconnaissance drone 5 kilometers from the air defense system.
The Russian air defense system was located (here) to the east of the village of Mangush in the Donetsk region, 7 kilometers from the Mariupol airfield.
A few days earlier, on July 12, Ukrainian missile launchers hit a Russian asset, presumably a S-300V air defense system, near the airport.
Analysts from the CyberBoroshno Telegram group showed a satellite image of the airfield where the Russians had deployed S-300V anti-aircraft missile systems.
At the time, occupation sources reported the alleged downing of five missiles fired from American M142 HIMARS rocket launchers.
