The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a precision bombing strike on Russian infantry positions in Toretsk, Donetsk region.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published the corresponding video.

“On March 21, 2025, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully targeted the area of Russian forces concentration from the 1st Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 103rd Motorized Rifle Regiment, located in shelters and basements in the city of Toretsk, Donetsk region,” the ministry reported.

According to the statement, the strike led to the destruction of enemy personnel, including a group of attack aircraft and UAV operators.

OSINT analysts from the WarArchive project determined that the aircraft targeted the Dzerzhinsk enrichment plant, located on the territory of the Central mine in Toretsk.

These airstrikes are significant because mine premises are often used as safe points for accumulating infantry forces before launching assaults.

Battles for Toretsk

Fighting for the city of Toretsk has been ongoing since late August 2024. While Russian forces have captured a large part of the city, combat continues within the buildings.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces frequently launch counterattacks, exploiting rotations within Russian units. As a result, the situation in the city remains highly fluid.

It has been reported that recently, Russian troops redeployed the 150th motorized rifle brigade to this area, moving them from the Kurakhiv direction.

“Why is this happening? Either to reinforce or replace the 132nd motorized rifle brigade, which had been spreading false reports about the capture of Toretsk. However, this has not happened. As a result, enemy manpower has increased, and artillery shelling remains a stable threat. For instance, from the end of January to early February, shelling numbers fluctuated drastically — 38 shellings one day, 68 the next, and sometimes as many as 96. Recently, however, there have been consistently over 100 shellings,” Dmitry Zaporozhets, spokesman for the Luhansk operational-tactical group, reported.

The Ukrainian defense in Toretsk and its surroundings is mainly comprised of the 28th and 93rd mechanized brigades, along with attached units and National Guard forces, including the Azov and Liut brigades.

In February, the Vinnytsia and Kirovohrad rifle battalions of the National Police joined the defense of Toretsk as part of the Liut joint assault brigade.
