Domestic 155-mm Bohdana artillery systems account for 40% of all artillery used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the frontline.

This was reported by Colonel Andriy Zhuravlyov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Rocket Forces and Artillery of the Ukraine’s Land Forces Command, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, this figure was recorded as of October 2025. This applies to both self-propelled and trailed versions of the Ukrainian artillery system.

The colonel noted that today the Ukrainian Bohdana is already approaching the characteristics of the French CAESAR wheeled self-propelled artillery system, which Ukraine also receives as part of international military assistance.

Zhuravlyov added that the Ukrainian artillery system has several advantages over foreign models of similar weapons.

First of all, it is capable of using a wide range of ammunition, which, accordingly, simplifies logistics. Secondly, the gun has a fairly long barrel life.

“And today it is probably one of the most reliable artillery systems in terms of its endurance. Its technical serviceability at the front consistently reaches 80%. That is, it has the best survivability,” noted the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Rocket Forces and Artillery.

He said that an automated control system has been developed for the Bohdana artillery system, which speeds up the gun’s guidance. A charging machine is also being tested.

According to the colonel, the Rocket Forces and Artillery are equipped with about 30 different models of artillery systems – Soviet, Ukrainian and Western.

Among the systems that the Rocket Forces and Artillery Command would like to keep in service in the short term: “Bohdana” of various modifications, CAESAR, PzH 2000, RCH 155, M777, Archer and other models that will prove themselves well in war.

“Perhaps in the medium term, we will have only one Bohdana artillery system, but in different modifications. Because Bohdana is our production,” Zhuravlyov said.

The officer added that the manufacturer provides technical support for the systems in the army and organizes repairs of failed systems.
