The United States is preparing additional Stryker and Bradley armored fighting vehicles for Ukraine.
Carla Babb, the VOA journalist, reported this with reference to her own sources.
Vehicles will be included in additional military aid to Ukraine worth up to $325 million.
The new defense aid package will also include ammunition for the M142 HIMARS rocket systems.
The US Department of Defense will continue to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense by providing additional ammunition to NASAMS rocket systems.
In May, the USA approved the possible Foreign Military Sale of the NASAMS air defense system to the government of Ukraine.
Ukraine has an urgent need to increase its capabilities to defend against Russian missile strikes and aircraft.
Acquiring and effectively deploying the NASAMS air defense system will enhance Ukraine’s ability to defend its people and protect critical national infrastructure.
Generally, Ukraine expects to receive more than 100 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
The shipment of the first batch of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine was reported in January of this year. A more advanced and newer version, the M2A2 ODS-SA, is being supplied to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukraine also expects to receive 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers and 20 mine rollers. This American armored personnel carrier is capable of carrying 9 soldiers and two crew members.
The high speed of movement and patency should qualitatively increase the mobility of the Air Assault Force units. At the same time, mine rollers should protect the crew from being blown up on the mine barriers that the Russians are setting up along the entire front line.
