Ukraine is negotiating with Washington to receive the used HIMARS systems.
This would aid in speeding up the supply of weapons, Davyd Arakhamia, Servant of the People Faction Head in the Verkhovna Rada, shared this in his interview with Voice of America.
“First of all, we need additional HIMARS systems – those that have been allocated will be delivered within two years, and this does not suit us. We want to take over the HIMARS that are already in the U.S. and have been used. We would take them, and the new ones would be supplied to the U.S. military. We want to conduct the so-called exchange process. This is not a simple bureaucratic procedure, but we have already “drafted” it and want it to be accepted after all and, in fact, put to action,” said Davyd Arakhamia.
He also noted that Ukraine needs GrayEagle and MQ Reaper drones.
“Протягом двох-трьох тижнів ці дрони можуть бути вже в Україні”, – Давид Арахамія, голова фракції “Слуга народу” Верховної Ради України, у коментарі для журналістки Голосу Америки @KaterynaLis.

“We met with the Air Force Command and had discussions with manufacturers. We believe that once there is a political solution, these drones might already appear in Ukraine within two to three weeks,” Davyd Arakhamia added.
It was previously reported that Ukraine should be receiving 18 HIMARS systems from the United States. This is covered by the previous assistance packages.
Subsequently, the Pentagon explained that these 18 systems would be purchased from the manufacturer and not taken from the existing stocks.
“The procurement and delivery of these HIMARS systems and associated ammunition will take a few years. Today’s announcement is only the beginning of a procurement process,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense representatives, this is necessary to have a weapons reserve for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, this does not prevent the United States from transferring existing HIMARS systems to Ukraine, as was done previously.
Procurement of the 18 systems from the manufacturer is also part of planning for the future defense needs of Ukraine, which are already being discussed at the level of the Pentagon and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
American М142 HIMARS rocket artillery systems carry six GMLRS multiple rockets or one MGM-140 ATACMS missile.
MLRS is designed to defeat areas of concentration of artillery systems, air and fire support equipment, cargo transport, combat vehicles, and armored personnel carriers, as well as to provide fire support to its units and support equipment.
