Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery in Ufa, Russia.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The strike was carried out on the night of March 23 against a Russian fuel and energy infrastructure facility.
A fire was reported on the plant’s premises following the attack.
Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim is one of the region’s key oil refineries.
Its primary refining capacity is approximately 6–8 million tons of crude oil per year.
The facility produces fuel used, in particular, to meet the needs of the Russian military.
It is important to note that the plant is located approximately 1,400 km from Ukraine’s state border.
“This demonstrates the capability to strike targets deep behind enemy lines,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasizes.
In particular, on the night of March 23, the Transneft – Primorsk Port oil terminal (the city of Primorsk, the Leningrad region) was struck.
According to preliminary information from the General Staff, both the tank farm and the oil loading infrastructure were struck.
The full extent of the damage and the consequences of the strikes are currently being assessed.
