The Ukrainian Air Force has received new Patriot surface-to-air missile systems from Germany.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this but did not specify the number of systems delivered.
Zelensky shared that air strikes remain Putin’s key tactic in the war.
He added that Russia relies on terror to compensate for its inability to achieve objectives on the ground, making the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense a priority.
Zelensky also noted that enhancing Ukrainian air defense capabilities will help ensure the security of both Ukraine and its partners in the future.
“Since our security is indivisible, our air defenses must protect all of us,” the President said.
He noted that negotiations on further upgrades are ongoing at both the government level and directly with the system manufacturers.
On September 9, it was reported that the first Patriot launchers from Germany had already arrived in Ukraine.
The delivery of the promised systems was planned in two stages, with the second stage apparently now complete.
Recently, it was also reported that Ukraine and the United States are preparing a major purchase of 25 Patriot systems.
Several countries are already in line for production of these systems, but Ukraine expects priority due to political agreements.
According to publicly available information, Ukraine currently operates around six Patriot batteries capable of intercepting cruise missiles, drones, and ballistic missiles such as the Iskander and Kinzhal.
