Ukroboronprom and private Ukrainian companies signed a number of cooperation agreements with Thales and other French arms manufacturers.
Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries, announced this on his social networks.
At the Eurosatory 2024 defense exhibition in Paris, Ukrainian companies presented samples and prototypes of their products and signed a number of agreements with European defense companies. The Minister of Strategic Industries said that the state-owned company Ukroboronprom signed five agreements.
The state enterprise has signed a memorandum with the French company Thales to establish a joint venture in Ukraine that will repair and modernize equipment for electronic warfare, communications, air defense systems, and radars.
The second agreement, also with Thales, concerns the French side’s intention to establish a service center in Ukraine to maintain and test electronic warfare equipment and radars.
Ukraine is currently actively using the company’s Ground Master 200 radars, both independently and as part of more complex airspace control systems such as ControlMaster 200. In addition, Thales is also one of the developers of the SAMP/T air defense system.
The third agreement was signed by a Ukrainian state-owned enterprise with another French company, Hexadrone, which develops drones. The agreement regulates cooperation on the joint production of UAVs with Ukraine.
The fourth is a cooperation agreement on the installation and test use of Exail navigation systems on Ukrainian-made radars.
The fifth is a Memorandum of Understanding with the French armored vehicle manufacturer Arquus. The document concerns the maintenance and modernization of armored vehicles.
Arquus, also known as Renault Trucks Defense, produces wheeled armored vehicles, including VAB armored personnel carriers, which are actively used by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In addition to ready-made solutions, the company also sells transmission elements for armored vehicles, other components, and remotely controlled combat modules.
In addition to Ukroboronprom, private Ukrainian arms manufacturers also played an active role in the international exhibition.
According to Kamyshyn, the French association GICAT has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Technological Forces of Ukraine association, and one of the private drone developers has agreed to jointly develop UAVs with Thales.
