Members of Ukraine’s Parliament (Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada) passed two draft laws to extend martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine.
Yaroslav Zhelezniak, a deputy of the Holos (Voice) party, reported this.
Each of the bills received 328 votes.
Both bills were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada last week.
In his public address on August 14, Zelensky stressed that the terms of martial law would be extended for “obvious reasons’.
“In the near future, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will have to make a decision on the extension of martial law and general mobilization. An obvious decision, obvious reasons,” he said.
Martial law continues from 5:30 a.m. on August 23 for 90 days, as well as the general mobilization terms.
The explanatory notes to both bills state that these measures “will contribute to the adoption of adequate measures aimed at repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.”
