On August 30, during a large-scale combined strike on Russian forces in Crimea, Ukraine’s defense forces hit a Russian FSS facility near Armyansk with Neptune cruise missiles.

Astra reported the strike.

According to Astra, at 7 a.m. on August 30, the Ukrainian military launched Neptune cruise missiles at a Russian FSS border service base near the village of Voloshyne, close to Armyansk in northern Crimea.

The attack reportedly damaged six hovercraft and killed one serviceman.

It is unclear which boats were hit, but border detachments in northern Crimea operate A-8 Khivus and A25PS hovercraft.

The A-8 Khivus is 7.45 meters long and 3.30 meters wide. It is powered by a 143-horsepower gasoline engine, has a maximum speed of 60 km/h and a range of up to 400 km. The crew consists of two, with space for up to eight border guards. The vessel can operate autonomously for up to three days.

The A25PS is 17.23 meters long and 7.94 meters wide. It is equipped with two diesel engines, each producing 370 horsepower, and features a maximum speed of 93 km/h and a range of up to 500 km. It can carry 30–50 troops and has a crew of two or three.

The strike was part of a broader attack on Crimea that also destroyed Mi-8 helicopters and a Mi-24 attack helicopter at Simferopol airport.

Astra also reported that a drone hit a Russian military barracks near Armyansk, though the impact remains unknown.

At the end of August 2025, the first official video of the Long Neptune strike cruise missile was released, featuring increased dimensions and a slightly modified design.

The most noticeable change is its larger size, due to the addition of fuel and likely explosives, which have increased both the missile’s diameter and length.
