Last night, the Air Defense of Ukraine destroyed 37 Russian cruise missiles out of 40 launched, as well as 29 kamikaze drones out of about 35.

This was reported in the Air Force of Ukraine.

From 00.00 to 05.00 on May 29, 2023, the Russian invaders attacked military facilities and critical infrastructure of Ukraine with cruise missiles and drones. An air raid alert was issued across the country.

According to the military, this time the Russians fired up to 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 air-launched cruise missiles using nine Tu-95MS strategic bombers from the Caspian Sea region. Besides, from the northern and southern directions, the invaders attacked Ukraine with Iranian Shahed-136/131 drones. In total, about 35 such drones were launched.

During the night, Ukrainian air defense operated in the areas of responsibility of all Air Force Commands: “Center,” “East,” “South” and “West.” In cooperation with the air defense units of other components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, 67 air targets were destroyed, namely:

37 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
29 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones;
1 operational and tactical level reconnaissance UAV.

As a result of a night Russian air attack, in several districts of the Kyiv region, residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged.

“As a result of the attack, there are damaged residential buildings and infrastructure in several areas of the region. No casualties and injuries have been reported,” said Andrii Nebytov, Head of the Kyiv region Police.

The Russians also carried out a combined attack on the capital from different directions with Kh-101/555 cruise missiles and Shahed kamikaze drones. This is the 15th air attack on Kyiv since the beginning of May.

“In general, more than 40 air targets were detected and destroyed by the forces of our air defense. Strikes on Kyiv are prevented!, ” the statement of the Kyiv City Military Administration said.

It is reported that as a result of the fall of debris in the Podolsky district, the roof of a residential building was broken through, there were no casualties.

Also last night, in the sky over the Poltava region air defense forces destroyed two Russian missiles and a drone. As of the morning, there were no reports of destruction, said Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava RMA.

In addition, the Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyy, said that the air defense forces had shot down a Russian missile over the Zolochiv district of Lviv region at night. The debris fell on a wooden outbuilding and burned it down.
