Ukraine received a supply of 4S20 explosive elements for foreign tanks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is stated by analysts from “Ukraine Weapons Tracker”.
It is reported that the elements of reactive armour belong to the Czech company STV Group.
These elements protect armored vehicles from enemy cumulative means.
When the element of reactive armour is getting pierced by a cumulative jet, the explosive in it detonates and the metal plates of the body of the elements begin to spread in opposite directions.
At the same time, they cross the trajectory of the jet, giving constant impact on it. Part of the jet energy is spent on piercing these plates, and the lateral impulse from the collision destabilizes the jet.
Due to the influence of reactive armour, the armor-piercing characteristics of cumulative means get reduced.
Journalist Volodymyr Buchko said that the tanks that Poland transfers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine receive reactive armour.
A photo with a tank of the Polish upgraded T-72M1R, which already has reactive armour, was shown, although initially it was sent to Ukraine without it.
It is also noted that foreign tanks are “Ukrainized” by receiving inscriptions on the devices in Ukrainian.
Ukrainian tankers are mastering tanks transferred as part of Polish aid to protect against Russian aggression.
In particular, T-72M1 and T-72M1R tanks were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Upgrade of the T-72M1R includes the integration of new surveillance systems (including thermal imaging gunner’s sight), the installation of new means of communication, and an electronic starting system for the 780-horsepower engine.
