Ukraine received a new military aid package from Lithuania at the end of last week.
The press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced this.
The aid package includes Lithuanian-made drones, thermal imagers, and wheeled loaders for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
“We cannot slow down our support for Ukraine because guaranteeing Ukraine’s security means taking care of our own security,” Dovilė Šakalienė, Minister of National Defense of Lithuania, stated.
She also noted that bureaucratic obstacles have been eliminated, and defense assistance will now arrive in Ukraine even faster.
Lithuania plans to support Ukraine with air defense systems, ammunition, drones, and anti-drone equipment this year.
It also plans to finance the Ukrainian defense industry by purchasing weapons produced in Ukraine for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In addition, Lithuania will contribute to the Mine Action Coalition, which it leads together with Iceland, and to other international coalitions supporting Ukraine, of which it is a member.
Military assistance will be provided through international funds and collective initiatives. Training of the Ukrainian military and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers will also continue.
A week ago, the Lithuanian Defense Minister announced that Ukraine would receive 4,500 drones. The drones are manufactured by the Lithuanian companies Dangolakis, RSI Europe, Ltmiltech, Granta Autonomy, and Unmanned Defense Systems.
The drones are delivered to Ukraine fully assembled, which makes it possible to reduce the time required to transfer them to combat units and prepare them for flight. The Lithuanian Armed Forces will also provide more than 2,300 drones.
Prior to the purchase, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine conducted tests of Lithuanian combat drones in conditions as close to combat as possible.
