The Olena Zelenska Foundation and the Ministry of Health handed over the second batch of ambulances from the UAE government to medics.
This was reported by the official website of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The second batch of 27 vehicles was received by the Olena Zelenska Foundation and the Ministry of Health from the United Arab Emirates.
These vehicles have now been handed over to medics and are being used for emergency calls. In total, 50 ambulances based on the Toyota Land Cruiser J79 civilian off-road vehicle were handed over to medics.
The first batch of 23 vehicles from the government of the United Arab Emirates was delivered at the end of 2023.
The vehicles were converted from civilian Toyota Land Cruiser J79 off-roaders. Thanks to a 4-liter V6 engine with 250 hp and all-wheel drive, the vehicle can overcome difficult off-road conditions.
The vehicles are outfitted with all necessary medical gear, including oxygen cylinders, heart monitors, defibrillators, electrocardiographs, and ventilators.
In addition, thanks to the equipment installed in these ambulances, it is possible to save a person in case of cardiogenic shock, provide assistance during childbirth, resuscitate patients, provide general anesthesia, and provide primary surgical treatment of wounds.
At least half a thousand ambulances have been destroyed or stolen by the enemy. This is not just a material loss, but it is a risk of not being able to reach those who need help. That is why this event is special. There is nothing more important to us than saving lives. We are grateful to everyone who helps us with this,” Olena Zelenska said.
All vehicles are being distributed to the regions that need special transport for medical evacuation and assistance the most.
The 27 evacuation ambulance vehicles will help medics continue their work and save lives even in extremely difficult conditions. This is a significant strengthening of our healthcare system,” emphasised the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko.
As Militarnyi previously reported, heavy-duty demining vehicles based on MAN trucks were assembled for Ukrainian rescuers. Two such vehicles were donated to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) by The HALO Trust.
This international organisation conducts humanitarian demining and eliminates the threat of explosive remnants of war.
