The German military handed over to the Ukrainian army a defense package against atomic, biological, and chemical impact.
The German Ministry of Defense announced the transfer of the HEP70 ABC (Atomic, Biological and Chemical) defense package to Ukraine.
This includes six vehicles, each supplied with complete decontamination equipment with two storage tanks and a significant initial supply of decontamination agents.
With this assistance, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have the immediate capacity for mobile decontamination.
The transfer of this equipment does not foreseeably limit the operational readiness and task execution capacity of the Bundeswehr.
It is also stated that the training of the Ukrainian soldiers to use these devices has been completed.
The platform for the HEP70 (Haupt — Entstrahlungs/Deradiation — Entseuchungs/Deactivation — Entwesungs/Disinfection — Entgiftungs/Detoxification — Platz) is a 6×6 7-ton truck with a gross weight of 16,780 kg.
The components of the decontamination system are mainly mounted on the loading platform of the truck, which has an internal length of 5.61 m and a width of 2.376 m.
Among other things, the HEP70 decontamination system includes two storage tanks with a capacity of 1,500 liters each, a Tragkraftspritze TS 4/5 portable pumping system, a heater, a mixing system, a built-in Zumischer Z4 inductor, and a 60-liter container.
It is also equipped with a hose system, which includes a control panel, temperature control, and other systems.
The system can also be applied for firefighting and water transportation.
In addition to decontamination vehicles, the HEP70 can also decontaminate infrastructure, for example, in the cases when the roads or warehouses need to be cleared.
