North Macedonia handed over four Su-25 jet aircraft to Ukraine.

The Macedonian media MDK reported that these aircraft Macedonia received from Kyiv in 2001.

The Ministry of Defense of North Macedonia did not confirm or deny this information at the request of the MDK media.

They noted that the decision to provide Ukraine with weapons will be “declassified and presented in order of transparency.”

“The decisions made so far do not affect the combat readiness of our army,” the department added.

As the media reminds, during the conflict in Macedonia in 2001, the country purchased four Su-25 aircraft from Ukraine: three single-seat and one two-seat.

In the spring of 2003, the aircraft were decommissioned from the armed forces due to lack of need, and in 2004 were prepared for sale.

In 2011, the Ministry of Defense of Macedonia considered the possibility of modernizing the Su-25 aircraft to NATO standards, but never implemented these plans.

As previously reported, North Macedonia decided to hand over T-72 tanks to Ukraine. The government planned to withdraw these tanks from the service.

The exact number of armored vehicles was not specified. Totally 31 vehicles of this type were in service with the army of North Macedonia.

The Skopje government received these tanks from the Russian Federation in 2000 during the armed conflict between the Macedonian authorities and the Albanian rebels.

The decision to transfer Macedonian tanks to Ukraine was explained by the soon uncompetitiveness of these vehicles and the subsequent need for replacement.
