In total, the Czech Republic transferred more than 2.3 billion euros worth of weapons to Ukraine.
This amount was stated by David Jareš, representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, in his response to the local ČTK news agency request.
The total amount of military equipment that was transferred from its warehouses to the Czech Armed Forces, as well as exported by Czech arms manufacturers, is more than CZK 54.8 billion (approximately 2.3 billion euros).
According to him, the Czech Republic transferred to Ukraine unused military property from the depots of the Czech army in the amount of about CZK 4.8 billion.
In addition, Czech arms manufacturers sent weapons worth more than CZK 50 billion to Ukraine.
For security and tactical reasons, the Czech Republic does not disclose the amount of the assistance provided. However, according to available information, in addition to ammunition and small arms, the republic has sent heavy equipment to Ukraine, including tanks and combat helicopters.
In terms of arms exports, some Czech supplies were paid for by allied countries; for example, the U.S. and the Netherlands jointly paid for the repair of 90-72B tanks.
The United States and the EU also have already transferred funds to Prague to modernize the army as compensation for weapons transferred to Kyiv.
In addition to providing weapons, the Czech Republic has received dozens of Ukrainian soldiers for treatment, and has helped with the repair of military equipment and the training of military personnel.
The Czech Ministry of Defense is considering the possibility of training junior Ukrainian officers and the participation of the Czech military police in the investigation of war crimes in Ukraine.
“The actions of the West must be united and effective. This means that our collective assistance to Ukraine will not only continue, but we will accelerate and increase it, whether it be the supply of ammunition, spare parts or repair of equipment,” commented Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová.
Last month, it became known that the Czech Ministry of Defense received the first compensation from the European Union for military equipment delivered to Ukraine.
