The Ukrainian defense industry reached the production rate of six Bohdana self-propelled howitzers per month.

The President reported about this on his official social media page.

In his daily report, Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the increase in the rate of arms production by the Ukrainian military-industrial complex.

“Our efforts to increase our own production are also paying off. For the first time, we have reached the figure of six Bohdana self-propelled howitzers per month. And we already see how to increase it further,” Zelensky said.

Last week, Vladyslav Belbas, the head of the company ‘’Ukrainian Armor’’, a subcontractor for the production of these self-propelled howitzers, also confirmed the serial production of the Bohdana self-propelled howitzers and revealed a number of details.

For example, it has been known that Ukrainian self-propelled howitzers are being produced in parallel in several modifications to increase the volume of the batch. In addition, the manufacturer is also developing several more versions of the self-propelled howitzers.

Presumably, the different versions refer to wheeled howitzers on the chassis of MAZ-6317 trucks and Tatra T815 8×8 trucks.

Production of the Bohdana self-propelled howitzers

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov first publicly reported about the start of mass production of Ukrainian self-propelled howitzers in January 2023.

He said that Ukraine has financed the serial production of the domestic Bohdana 155mm self-propelled howitzers. According to the minister, the work began in the spring of 2022.

On May 4, Militarnyi published photos found on the Internet showing the production process of a serial version of the Ukrainian Bohdana self-propelled howitzer.

On July 23, photos of a new version of the Bohdana self-propelled howitzer on the chassis of the Czech Tatra T815-7 armored army truck were first posted on the Internet.

And in November it became known that the howitzers had finally been modernized and equipped with a full-fledged projectile rammer, which simplified and accelerated the operation of the howitzer.

At the same time, an unknown number of Ukrainian self-propelled howitzers are performing combat missions on the front line as part of the 1st Special Purpose Brigade and the 47th Artillery Brigade.
