Ukraine has signed contracts for four models of domestically produced interceptor drones, designed to counter Russian Shahed drones, with a total value exceeding UAH 3 billion.

Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this.

On July 22, three Ukrainian manufacturers were awarded government contracts to produce and supply their drone interceptors.

“The state is ready to contract everything that companies can produce by the end of the year. Yesterday, three Ukrainian interceptor drones received government contracts. Together with a previous one, that makes four contracts worth over UAH 3 billion,” Fedorov shared.

He, along with Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, representatives of Brave1, and the Ministry of Digital Transformation team, met with drone manufacturers and the largest Ukrainian volunteer foundations.

The meeting aimed to coordinate efforts to support the front lines. The topic of interceptor drones was also discussed in detail.

“Together, we’re working to protect Ukraine’s skies and find a response to Russia’s Shahed terror,” Mykhailo Fedorov shared.

The First Deputy Prime Minister noted that charitable foundations are also actively purchasing interceptors and investing in pilot training.

Last month, volunteer Serhii Sternenko announced that the Ukrainian group “Wild Hornets” had produced a large batch of interceptor drones designed to counter Shahed-type UAVs. His foundation, together with Monobank, launched a fundraising campaign to purchase these drones.

In total, 85 million UAH was raised, which will be used to purchase 395 Shahed interceptor drones and another 1,500 FPV drones to target Russian reconnaissance UAVs. The interceptor drones are already being delivered to Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

In May, Ukrainian group Wild Hornets published a video capturing the use of the Sting interceptor drone.

This video became the first publicly released footage of an interceptor drone successfully engaging a Russian Shahed drone.
