Ukraine’s Defense Forces are maintaining their defenses on the specified positions and destroying Russian invaders.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi shared this in an interview with the hosts of the national media marathon, NV reports.

The Ukrainian military has 700,000 servicepersons combatting the Russian invasion in Ukraine, said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

“From the point of view of the number of forces used by the Russian Federation, which deployed everything – reserves, “silent” mobilization, etc… They relocated a lot of troops… This is a really considerable amount,” the President said.

The President also stressed that in order to counteract Russia, the Ukrainian army had to number not more just the 250,000 servicemen, including 120,000 on active duty, but much more.

“But even if we would have added 100,000 soldiers – we wouldn’t be able to stop them. Now we have 700,000 people. Thus what you see is the result of the work of 700,000 people who are fighting and defending our territory,” Zelensky stressed.

The President of Ukraine did not specify whether it was exclusively the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the Defense Forces of Ukraine in general, which include other units of security forces in addition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the beginning of the war, the number of personnel at the Armed Forces of Ukraine was at approximately 250 thousand. According to Ukrainian law, it cannot exceed 261,000 people, including 215,000 servicemen.

However, in a special period, this number may increase due to reservists and mobilized personnel.

It was recently announced that the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have reached almost 110,000 servicemen. In addition, over 700 volunteer formations of territorial communities were set up. The Territorial defense receives not only Ukrainian-made weapons but also Western ones.

Prior to the full-scale invasion, the plan was to create over 150 battalions as part of the deployment of the territorial defense system in Ukraine.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine continued to form 25 brigades (one region – one brigade), which will unite over 150 battalions (one battalion per district).
