The United States government has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine.
The list of provided weapons was published on July 11 on the official website of the U.S. Department of Defense.
This Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) package to be provided from DoD inventories.
The $225 million tranche of equipment includes one battery of the Patriot air defense system, which was announced by Joe Biden the day before.
In addition, munitions for NASAMS and Stinger anti-aircraft missiles are being provided to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
The package also includes ammunition for HIMARS rocket systems, 155-mm and 105-mm artillery rounds, TOW equipment and missiles and Javelin anti-armor systems, and missiles for them.
The Ukrainian military will also receive AT-4 man-portable, disposable anti-tank launchers, small arms ammunition, demolitions munitions, spare parts and ancillary equipment.
This announcement is the Biden Administration’s sixty-first tranche of equipment to be provided from DoD inventories for Ukraine since August 2021.
Previously, the President of the United States said in a speech at the opening of the NATO summit in Washington that the United States and the partners intended to provide Ukraine with “dozens of tactical air defense systems.” These include NASAMS, HAWK, IRIS T-SLM, IRIS T-SLS, and Gepard systems.
Also, Ukraine has attracted $675 million from partner countries for the production of artillery, armored vehicles, drones, and other Ukrainian-made weapons.
Due to the lack of budgetary funds, the Ukrainian government can only contract one-third of the weapons from the state-owned defense industry, which already has a capacity of $20 billion.
To solve this problem, the Ministry of Strategic Industries launched the ZBROYARI initiative, which offers Western partners to purchase Ukrainian weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
