Ukrainian experts began testing a new batch of domestically developed 82-mm mortar rounds.

Ukroboronprom State Enterprise reported about this.

“There are not too many good rounds in Putin’s bad war. Testing the next batch of our Ukrainian 82-mm rounds,” stated the enterprise representatives.

Instead of producing ammunition locally, production began abroad.

“Rounds are produced at the facilities of one of the NATO member countries,” Ukroboronprom said.

It is stated that the improved Ukroboronprom rounds will become several times better than the regular ones.

The number of deadly fragments recorded during tests on target shields and on the target site is 2-2.5 times as much as the standard mine should have.

“The size and shape of the shrapnel are also better than regular ones,” the concern emphasizes.

Comparison of standard round and new Ukrainian:

• the number of fragments at 5 meters – 198 in the regular and 460 in the mine from Ukroboronprom;
• at 10 meters – 70 versus 140 for the Ukrainian mine;
• at 15 meters – 41 and 69 at the Ukrainian round.

The 82 mm fragmentation mortar round is designed to defeat enemy manpower from a mortar at a distance of up to 4,500 meters.

Recall that in November 2022, Ukroboronprom stated that its enterprises had established the production of 152mm artillery rounds.
