The Ukrainian Air Force has begun using French-made Mirage 2000 fighter jets to carry out airstrikes on the positions of Russian forces.
This was reported on the Soniashnyk Telegram channel, which also published a video showing the combat operation.
The footage shows two high-precision AASM Hammer bombs being dropped on a section of the front line.
“Thank you to France for its unwavering support of our military, as well as for providing high-quality and modern weapons,” the Telegram channel associated with Ukrainian aviation wrote.
This is the first publicly released video recording of an airstrike on a ground target carried out by a French Mirage 2000 fighter jet supplied to Ukraine.
Previously, it had been officially reported that the Ukrainian Air Force was using these aircraft only for air defense – intercepting Russian cruise missiles and drones.
It recently became known that Ukraine will receive two fighter jets from France by the end of the first quarter of 2026 as part of military assistance.
Two aircraft are to be delivered in addition to the three that were supplied last year.
Thus, by the end of 2026, Ukraine is expected to have at least four such fighter jets at its disposal, since one was lost last summer.
The transfer of the new aircraft is accompanied by additional training for both pilots and ground personnel.
Currently, three Ukrainian pilots are mastering the Mirage 2000 fighter jet in France.
In Ukraine, these fighters use French MICA and Magic-2 air-to-air missiles to engage Russian aerial targets. Now, the aircraft are also striking ground targets with AASM Hammer bombs.
