Ukrainian prosecutors and their American counterparts are exploring the possibility of seizing the Wagner assets to deprive the organization of resources for financing military actions in Ukraine and subsequent threats to world peace and security.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office press service, during a meeting with U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin emphasized the importance of intensifying cooperation with the FBI and appointing a permanent legal advisor in Kyiv.
He also highlighted the priority of holding the Wagner Group accountable for international crimes.
“We sincerely welcome the strengthening of cooperation with the FBI and the decision of the U.S. Department of Justice to appoint a permanent legal advisor in Kyiv. intensification of efforts to hold the ‘Wagner group’ accountable for international crimes is also in our priorities,” Kostin noted.
Recently, the Prosecutor General’s Office has started investigating claims by Wagner mercenaries that they killed civilians, including children.
