Ukraine has significantly ramped up production of interceptor drones and filled the shortage in its air defense units.
This was reported in an interview with Militarnyi by Vasyl Dubovyi, head of the analytical division at Group 12, and Roman Krasovskyi, head of the research division.
“We are entering a period where there are enough resources,” the unit’s representatives noted.
In 2025, there were many instances where interceptor drone crews were left without weapons during Russian attacks.
As of March 2026, supplies had improved.
“In October–November 2025, deliveries under government contracts began,” Group 12 reported.
Prior to this, charitable organizations were the main suppliers of interceptors.
Group 12 noted that even with a sufficient number of interceptors, much depends on personnel, organizational capabilities, training, the availability of radar systems, and effective target designation.
Earlier, it was reported that operators of Ukrainian interceptor drones had already begun engaging enemy targets ‘remotely,’ using new remote control technologies.
The key point is that an operator can control an interceptor from a distance of hundreds of kilometers from the launch point.
This should allow crews to control significantly larger sections of the front line: up to 100 kilometers instead of 20 kilometers.
It was recently reported that Ukrainian air defense shot down over 900 Russian drones of various types in a single day.
