The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom will increase the number of Ukrainian military personnel who will be trained on the Martlet man-portable air defense system.

Photos of the training on the simulators were published on the official website of the Chiefs of Staff Committee of the United Kingdom Armed Forces.

This step on the part of the Ministry is related to the increase in missile attacks by Russia, which is shelling civilian infrastructure.

As part of its own training program for the Ukrainian military, the UK also plans to increase the number of transferred Martlet portable air defense missile systems, which consist of a control and guidance unit and the missiles themselves.

Since the Martlet missiles are housed in a transport and launch container, they can be installed both in the control and guidance unit carried by the military and in the launcher of the Stormer HVM self-propelled air defense system.

NATO instructors in the UK will train over 40,000 Ukrainian military personnel within Operation Interflex in 2024.

“Working with our partners to meet Ukraine’s training needs, it is estimated that Operation INTERFLEX will train over 40,000 Ukrainian troops by the end of 2024,” – Leo Docherty, Former Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, shared.

In addition, in 2023, the UK Ministry of Defense started investing in accelerating the production of missile weapons to be transferred to Ukraine as part of its increased support for Ukraine.

First of all, this regards NLAW anti-tank grenade launchers, Martlet universal missiles, Brimstone anti-tank air defense missiles, etc.

Militarnyi previously reported that the UK Ministry of Defense had discovered a way to resume production of artillery barrels.

Barrel production will be organized at Sheffield Forgemasters’ facilities, capable of producing the largest and most technically complex cast and forged steel parts in the world.

First of all, the production of 105mm and 155mm artillery barrels for L119 howitzers and AS-90 self-propelled artillery systems will be resumed.
