The combined attack took place on the night of March 9, 2025, when drones hit Russian enterprises associated with the Armed Forces and their supply of spare parts and fuel.

The Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant, which is used to produce metal products for military equipment, was hit.

The drone attack was also confirmed by Lipetsk Region Governor Igor Artamonov, who wrote on Telegram that specialists were working at the site of the drone crash. He did not specify whether industrial enterprises were affected.

“The yellow level remains. Air danger throughout the Lipetsk region. Specialists are working at the crash sites,” Artamonov wrote.

At the same time, the drone strike on the Ryazan oil refinery was probably successful. According to local residents, they heard about six explosions.

Pavel Malkov, governor of the Ryazan region, wrote on his Telegram that the drones did not damage either civilian or industrial infrastructure.

However, according to the FIRMS monitoring service, fire outbreaks were recorded on the territory of the refinery at 00:46 and 1:07 on March 9, 2025.

Also, using the possibility of inspecting the territory for fires over the past seven days, we can conclude that the recorded abnormal temperature increase is in no way related to the production process, as there have been no such cases before, except for drone strikes.

This strike on the Ryazan refinery was also the fourth since the beginning of 2025.

The attack on the enterprise was reported around 1 a.m. Kyiv time. Videos on social media show that the attack caused a fire at the plant.

Local residents claim they heard explosions above the plant and posted footage of the fire that broke out after the attacks. In total, eyewitnesses heard 3 to 5 loud explosions and saw several bright flashes in the area of the oil refinery.

In the morning, Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed the attack on the Syzran facility, without specifying the name, and said that air defense had allegedly shot the drones down.
