The U.S. Department of Defense has released classified documents outlining strategies for a potential conflict between the U.S. and China.
According to The Washington Post, the document, titled “Temporary Strategic Guidelines on National Defense Issues,” is marked with confidentiality labels and was primarily circulated by the Pentagon in mid-March.
In addition, it was signed by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, as it contains a significant amount of sensitive information.
Among other things, the document outlines, at times with bias and in great detail, the implementation of President Donald Trump’s vision for preparing for a potential war with Beijing, as well as protecting the U.S. from threats in the “near abroad,” including Greenland and the Panama Canal.
The document also provides an overall focus and priority system for senior Pentagon officials, as well as a vision for executing strategic objectives.
As part of national defense, the document calls for direct involvement in deterring illegal immigration and combating drug trafficking.
According to The Washington Post, the directives in the document explicitly call for the reorientation of U.S. armed forces toward preparing for a potential war with China and conducting corresponding exercises in the Indo-Pacific region, while sidelining the influence of other theaters of military operations.
Meanwhile, the document notes that military priority will be given to the fight against terrorism, particularly against militants in the Middle East and Africa, but without any international intervention.
Militarnyi previously reported that following the publication of information in the media that Elon Musk was to hear top-secret military plans for a war with China, the briefing was canceled.
According to The New York Times, on March 21, the Pentagon was to hold a briefing for Musk on a classified plan for war with China.
The meeting was planned in a secure conference room called the Tank, which usually hosts high-level military briefings with the Joint Chiefs of Staff or senior commanders.
