American defense companies already have 4 to 5 agreements with Ukraine on the production of various types of ammunition and services.

Penny Pritzker, United States Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery, stated this, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

According to her, some agreements have already been implemented, while others are in the process of implementation.

She noted that the United States representatives cooperate very closely with the Ukrainian Minister of Defense Industry [ed. – the Minister of Strategic Industries], the Prime Minister, and other officials to help develop the defense industry in Ukraine.

“And right now, we have four or five deals that have either been closed or are in the process of being implemented for the production of various types of ammunition and services,” Pritzker said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday, July 29.

According to her, all of this is essential to helping Ukraine succeed in the war and to preparing Ukraine for future supplies of such products to Europe and the world at large.

Ms. Pritzker also emphasized the prospects of the technology sector in Ukraine.

“Employment in the tech sector has grown, I think, by 8 percent and will continue to grow,” the special representative noted.

In early July, representatives of the Ministry of Strategic Industries reported that Ukrainian companies had signed agreements with two unnamed American companies to jointly produce 155mm shells.

In June, it was also announced that the American defense company Northrop Grumman would start producing ammunition in Ukraine.

“This is our first project paid for with Ukrainian dollars. We plan to expand this to tank ammunition, 155 mm shells, etc., when we find innovative processes,” Dave Bartell, Director of International Business at Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, shared.
