The U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and the Diplomatic Security Service are training the National Police of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to operate American-made NATO-style weapons for use on the front lines.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine reported on this.

“The exercises involved the operation of NATO-style weapons manufactured in the United States to use on the front lines against Russia’s war of aggression,” the Embassy shared.

INL is responsible for coordinating and implementing criminal justice and law enforcement reform programs and technical assistance to Ukraine.

INL will be responsible for implementing assistance programs in Ukraine to combat corruption, organized crime, drug trafficking, economic and financial crimes, human trafficking, and other criminal activities.

The Diplomatic Security Service is responsible for the Embassy’s security and all mission personnel in Ukraine.

This week, representatives of both agencies helped Ukrainian police and border guards improve their skills with American weapons.

In particular, they were trained to use AR-15 rifles. Their caliber is usually 5.56 mm.

The AR-15 has a semi-automatic firing mode. This means the weapon fires one shot every time the user pulls the trigger.

The AR-15 is one of the most popular and versatile rifles in the world, with a wide range of applications in various industries.

Even before the full-scale invasion, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine decided to switch to the new small arms.

In 2020, the National Guard of Ukraine started rearming some units with UAR-15 rifles.
