Two companies in Spain will produce components for Patriot air defense missiles

Spanish companies Sener and Oesia-Tecnobit have received permission to produce components for American PAC-3 MSE missiles for the Patriot air defense system.

To this end, Lockheed Martin Espana SA has signed an industrial cooperation agreement with the Spanish Ministry of Defense.

The agreement opens up new opportunities for Spanish companies to compete for the production of components for the American Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile.

The document was signed during the International Defense and Security Exhibition in Spain (FEINDEF). This agreement is part of Lockheed’s program to accelerate missile production.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sener will develop actuators for the PAC-3 MSE based on Lockheed Martin’s technical requirements.

At the same time, Oesia Tecnobit will specialize in the production of cables and wire harnesses. Cooperation between Lockheed Martin Espana and its Spanish partners began in 2023 and has been gradually developing since then.

“The addition of Sener and Oesía-Tecnobit to the PAC-3 MSE supply chain is a significant step forward in our efforts to support the defense industrial base of the United States and our allies,” Lockheed Martin said.

Poland is also joining the global supply chain for Patriot PAC-3 MSE missiles, delivering the first transport and launch containers to Lockheed Martin. The transport and launch containers provide important structural support for the storage, transport, and launch of Patriot missiles.

Last year, the Spanish Ministry of Defense placed an order for the purchase of modern PAC-3 MSE missiles for Patriot air defense missile systems.

Thanks to Spain’s commitment to becoming one of the leading users of the most advanced versions of the Patriot air defense system, the country has become the 16th user of the PAC-3 MSE system worldwide.

The new missile has been enlarged and equipped with a new engine, which has increased its air target interception range to 120 km and its ballistic target interception range to 60 km.

Due to its increased size, the launcher can accommodate 12 transport and launch containers with PAC-3 MSE missiles or be combined with other versions.
