The Turkish-made SUNGUR portable anti-aircraft missile system is already in the service of the Turkish Armed Forces.
The Turkish MANPADS missile is designed to hit low-altitude air targets.
Professor Ismail Demir, Defense Industry Agency President, announced that a portable anti-aircraft missile system developed by Roketsan at the expense of national resources is already in service.
“We have delivered to the Turkish army the first batch of the SUNGUR system, which is effective against UAVs, aircrafts and helicopters,” said Ismail Demir.
Also, for the first time, the portable configuration of the SUNGUR complex was shown in action.
Turkish MANPADS is associated with Stinger MANPADS, since the first Roketsan product was a Stinger missile produced under license.
Despite this, it is stated that the Turkish anti-aircraft system is equipped with advanced functions.
At the heart of SUNGUR is a missile from the Portatif Savunma (PorSav) portable anti-aircraft missile system of Turkish production.
The system can detect targets day and night. It can identify and track the target.
Equipped with Imaging Infrared Seeker (IIR) technology, the missile has a high target kill rate.
It is stated that the anti-aircraft system has a maximum range of 8 kilometers.
Recall that in 2020, a short-range mobile anti-aircraft missile system equipped with the SUNGUR system was presented in Turkey.
