Moldova’s President Maia Sandu stated that the forces of the “Transnistrian Moldavian Republic” are behind the recent blasts.

At a briefing after Moldova’s Supreme Security Council meeting, Maia Sandu stated that tensions are being escalated to drag Transnistria in the war, NewsMaker reports.

Sandu added that the Moldovan authorities have information about the explosion at the Tiraspol airport. Those explosions were not reported before.

“From the information we have at this moment, these escalation attempts stem from factions from within the Transnistrian region. These forces have a pro-war position and are interested in destabilizing the situation in the region,” she said.

Vadym Krasnoselsky, leader of unrecognized Transnistria, has accused Ukraine for the blasts. He stated this in his video address.

“The first results of the urgent operational and investigative measures demonstrated that traces of these attacks lead to Ukraine… I assume that those who organized these attacks have the intention to drag Transnistria into the conflict. I can say with confidence – it will not work,” he stated.

When addressing the President of Moldova, he called for “not succumbing to provocations” and “not dragging Moldova in the aggression against Transnistria.”

Ukraine’s position

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine states that provocations on the territory of the Transnistrian region were carried out by the Russian Federal Security Service in order to open an additional front in the Odesa region.

Thus, the enemy is trying to force the Defense Forces of Ukraine to reposition the military in this direction, weakening the defense of the Mykolaiv region.

The second reason for the provocations is to justify their actions in Ukraine. Under the premise of “saving” their own, the enemy will justify an attack on the territory of Ukraine.

The National Security and Defense Council also believes that by committing the terrorist attacks in the Transnistrian region, the invaders would try to put attention away from their crimes in Mariupol.

Three locations of mass graves of civilians were already discovered there – in Mangush, in the village of Vynohradne, and in the village of Stary Krym.

Previously, on April 26, 2022, two explosions were heard in the village of Maiac, Grigoriopol District. The unknown individuals had blown up two of the most powerful radio towers that became out of order. Both were being used to rebroadcast the Russian radio.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of so-called Transnistria has reported that the first explosion took place at 06:40 am, and the next one at 07:05 am. One radio tower had the “megawatt” power, the other one – “half-megawatt”. None of the center’s staff was injured.

Several explosions pounded the capital of the unrecognized “Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” on April 25 at about 5:45 p.m. Explosions occurred in the building of the “Ministry of State Security” and the branch of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Transnistrian region.
