The Security Service of Ukraine detained traitors who joined the occupying “Department of Execution of Punishments in the Kherson Region”.

The SSU reported about this.

They were found during stabilization measures in the liberated Kherson region.

During the occupation, the detainees carried out the tasks of the self-proclaimed authorities to suppress the resistance movement and carry out mass repressions in the region.

The investigation established that three people carried out the “reception” of kidnapped local residents at the “detention center” and kept them in custody in inhumane conditions.

The detainees are former officials of the Southern Interregional Administration for the Execution of Criminal Punishments. One of them is the acting head of the local pretrial detention center, the second — his deputy for operational work.

After the capture of Kherson, one of them voluntarily agreed to become the “assistant chief for public affairs”, and the other – a “senior operational officer” of the occupying authorities of the Russian Federation.

The third detainee previously used to work as the operational officer of the penitentiary institution for combating illegal drug trafficking. She joined the ranks of the occupation authorities at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

After the liberation of the city and region, all three detainees tried to hide and avoid justice.

Currently, they have been notified of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (Treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved. The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to 15 years or life imprisonment.

A pre-trial investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the offenses.
