This week, the United States might announce the allocation of another $600 million military aid package to Ukraine.
Politico reports about this.
A source in the U.S. Congress shared with the journalists that the DoD officials notified Congress recently that it would be using the $1.3 billion in drawdown authority in September.
Since the U.S. President administration had already announced a $675 million aid package last week, the new package, as Politico’s source suggests, will consist of the remainder of that amount.
As previously reported, the USA announced the twentieth $675 million package of aid to Ukraine.
The new aid package assumes the transfer to Ukraine of more GMLRS missiles for the M270 and M142 rocket systems, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 80 km. The United States prepared four additional 105-mm howitzers and 36,000 artillery rounds for 105-mm howitzers.
The package includes HARM anti-radiation missiles capable of hitting Russian air defenses.
The servicemen will receive 100 Armored High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), 50 armored medical treatment vehicles, 5,000 anti-armor systems, grenade launchers, small arms, and 1.5 million rounds of small arms ammunition.
Equipment includes night vision devices and other field equipment.
The new military aid package also includes 1,000 155mm rounds of Remote Anti-Armor Mine (RAAM) Systems.
