The United States once again confirmed that they have found no evidence that weapons it has provided to Ukraine have been found outside of Ukraine.
Celeste Wallander, Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, reported this to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, CNN reports.
“Instead, we see Ukraine’s frontline units effectively employing security assistance every day on the battlefield,” she said.
She added that the US has adapted its accountability practices for combat environments to avoid the risk of illicit diversion.
Lt. General Douglas Sims, another top Pentagon official, stated that there are no reports that weapons have gone missing from Ukraine, and it would not be in the interest of the Ukrainians to get rid of them.
The US is regularly receiving reports on the use of weapons in Ukraine.
As previously reported, in December, it was reported that Ukraine, together with the United States and Great Britain, uses logistics software that keeps each sample of weapons transferred by partners under control.
The information that the weapons transferred to Ukraine have disappeared is usually used by Russian propaganda.
Control over weapons transferred from the United States is carried out, among others, by the U.S. Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS).
The Defense Criminal Investigation Service (DCIS) will strengthen oversight of contracts approved under an accelerated procedure in favor of Ukraine.
While the Defense and State Departments say they haven’t found credible evidence of the diversion of U.S.-provided weapons, both say they are taking steps to increase security.
