The United States has demonstrated how the M113 tracked armored personnel carriers bound for the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being loaded.
The United States Department of Defense informed about this.
Recently, American equipment has been tested and undergone maintenance.
The United States has prepared a number of M113 armored personnel carriers for transfer as part of the U.S. initiative to support Ukraine.
M113 lightweight universal floating conveyor is the main tracked armored personnel carrier, which is in service of mechanized troops of the U.S. Army.
It should be noted that the armored medical evacuation vehicle modifications of the M113s are also being prepared for Ukraine.
In its initial configuration, it was armed with a 12.7-millimeter machine gun and equipped with a gasoline engine. It was later modernized several times.
Its crew consists of two people – a mechanic/driver and a commander. It has the capacity to carry an airborne unit of up to 11 people, as well as serve as a base for several dozens of specialized vehicles.
The M113 has an internal arrangement that became standard for most of the modern armored personnel carriers. Its engine compartment is at the front of the hull from the right side while the driving compartment is on the left. The middle and the rear parts of the hull are taken by the personnel.
The armored hull of the M113 is a rigid box structure.
It was previously reported that the Kingdom of Denmark is also intending to provide Ukraine with M113 armored personnel carriers.
The equipment will be handed over as part of a $90 million military aid package announced by Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on April 21 during his visit to Ukraine.
