The White House is ready on more than $1.1 billion sale of military equipment to Taiwan. The potential sale has been approved by the U.S. State Department.

The island state can receive air-to-air and anti-ship missiles as well as logistical assistance worth more than $1 billion. This information was shared by the Pentagon.
The approved package includes 100 AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and additional equipment at an estimated $85.6 million.
It also authorised the sale of 60 AGM-84L-1 Harpoon Block II anti-ship missiles and related equipment at a cost of some $355 million.
Moreover, the United States Department of State made a decision to approve material and technical support for Taiwan’s surveillance radar program. It entails sale of spare parts for the repair and maintenance of surveillance radars. The approximate cost of such services is $665.4 million.
In July of this year, the US government approved selling technical support and equipment for tanks and combat vehicles to Taiwan.
This is the fourth deal between the parties since the beginning of the year. The weapons will enhance the ability of the Republic of China’s Army to withstand threats and increase the level of interaction with partners.
This $108 million deal would include unclassified spare and repair parts, assembly for tanks and combat vehicles, logistical and technical assistance, as well as technical and logistical support by contractors.
In June, You Si-kun, the President of the Legislative Yuan stated that the domestic-made Yun Feng supersonic cruise missile is capable of reaching Beijing.
Yun Feng is a supersonic land-attack cruise missile capable of hitting ground targets at ranges from 1.5 thousand km up to 2 thousand km.
In May, the Republic of China (Taiwan) has completed the trial of a Hsiung Feng II anti-ship missile from an Anping-class Coast Guard ship (CG-601).
