Pentagon is set to expand military training for the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military will learn how to use the new weapons, that are transferred as part of the US military aid, said the State Department following a visit by the Secretary of State and Secretary of Defense to Kyiv.

“As part of our continuing assistance, Secretary Austin also informed the Government of Ukraine that the US Department of Defense will expand military training for Ukrainian service members in the region on certain weapons systems being provided. He highlighted U.S. efforts to accelerate the delivery of these weapons, which are now arriving within days of announcement,” reads the statement.

Lloyd Austin also underscored that the United States along with its allies and partners will continue to coordinate the shipment of additional heavy weaponry, ammunition, and spare parts from other countries.

In a statement made by the US Department of State, it was noted that Secretary Austin has also familiarized the Ukrainian leaders with the agenda for this week’s Defense Consultative Meeting in Germany.

A summit convened by the United States will discuss the operational situation on the ground and Ukraine’s longer-term security needs.

Previously, the United States has invited more than 40 allies to meet and discuss Ukraine’s longer-term security needs.

The meeting will happen at the Rammstein Air Base in Germany, allegedly on April 26.

As of April 23, 2022, defense ministers and senior generals of 20 countries, both NATO and non-NATO members, have already confirmed their participation.
