The United States has started the training of about 50 Ukrainian servicemen on how to use the howitzers.

The U.S. Department of Defense official shared with the journalists that the training of Ukrainian artillerymen on how to use the American howitzers has been launched. European Pravda informs about this with reference to CNN.

This regards the 155 mm artillery systems that the United States is handing over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces to combat Russia’s full-scale invasion.

According to the American official, the training of about 50 Ukrainians is being conducted outside the Ukrainian borders. However, the official did not specify which country is the location of the training.

“This is not a big number of Ukrainians, a bit over 50, they will get instructed on how to use the howitzers, and then they will be able to go back to Ukraine and train their colleagues,” the official said.

He also mentioned that the American artillery shells had already arrived in Europe to be sent to Ukraine.

Last week, U.S. President Joe Biden had announced an additional $800 million in military aid for Ukraine, expanding the volumes of aid to include heavy artillery.

The package of military aid for Ukraine, which was announced on April 13, 2022, included 155-mm howitzers and 40,000 artillery shells.

It was recently announced that the United States and Great Britain will be providing additional artillery to Ukraine.

The Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau stated that Canada will also ship the “heavy artillery” over to Ukraine.
