The United States is confident that Ukraine will not allow the American-origin weapons to fall into foreign hands.

Bonnie Jenkins, Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs, stated this, as “Voice of America” reports.

Jenkins argues that Washington is monitoring the use of American weapons by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and they are confident in the actions of the Ukrainian government to account for and protect against the illegal distribution of the transferred weapons.

The United States is serious about protecting American technology.

“The United States takes our responsibility to protect American-origin defense technologies and prevent their diversion or illicit proliferation very seriously. Thus we are actively engaging with Ukraine to ensure accountability of assistance, even amidst the challenging conflict that we’re seeing and the environment in which it is operating,” Bonnie Jenkins said.

Also, Under Secretary Jenkins noted that the State Department is confident in the actions from the Ukrainian side.

“We are confident in the Ukrainian Government’s commitment to appropriately safeguard and account for U.S.-origin defense equipment. So without getting into operational details, I can say that the United States engages actively with Ukraine’s government to ensure accountability for the defense articles and security assistance provided by the United States.” – said Jenkins.

The United States is also considering options for providing Ukraine with other military equipment in the future to defend against Russian aggression.

The purpose of the assistance provided is to force Russia to stop the war it is waging in Ukraine.

Previously, the Pentagon announced the time of a new Defense Ministers meeting on the issue of supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russia’s aggression.

The fourth meeting of the Contact Group will be held on July 20. This time, the meeting of Defense Ministers and representatives of countries will be held online.
