US officials have no evidence of widespread diversion of Western weapons in Ukraine.
Patrick S. Ryder, the Department of Defense Press Secretary stated this.
“A small team comprised of US Embassy Kyiv — Office of the Defense Attache personnel have conducted multiple inspections of US security assistance deliveries within the last couple months at locations in Ukraine,” Patrick Ryder noted.
The Pentagon official clarified that the inspections were not carried out near the front line.
In addition, according to Ryder, Ukraine tracks security assistance from the border logistics hubs to the front line.
Ukraine also provides expense and damage reports to record losses.
At the beginning of the week, the Pentagon announced that a small number of American troops have restarted on-site inspections in Ukraine.
They had to make sure that the Armed Forces of Ukraine properly account for the weapons provided by the West.
The presence of American troops in Ukraine became known after the announcement by the US Department of State of a plan aimed at preventing Western weapons provided to Ukraine from falling into the hands of Russian troops or their mercenaries.
Congressmen have long complained to the White House about the lack of transparency in reporting billions of dollars spent on military aid to Ukraine.
Joe Biden’s administration has been reluctant to talk about it for fear it could tip off smugglers to potential tax evasion methods.
The United States has allocated nearly $18 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russian troops invaded the country in February, and Washington wants to make sure it is not misused.
