US President Joe Biden confirmed the allocation of $ 1 billion of security assistance to Kyiv.
This is stated in the White House press release.
US President Joe Biden on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian vis-a-vis Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“I informed President Zelenskyy that the United States is providing another $1 billion of security assistance for Ukraine,” the statement said.
In particular, Ukraine will receive additional artillery and coastal defense weapons, as well as ammunition for artillery and advanced missile systems.
The message does not specify what kind of weapons are mentioned, but previously the media noted that the United States will provide Ukraine with Harpoon anti-ship missiles.
Ukraine also will receive additional 155-mm artillery rounds for American howitzers.
In addition, the Leaders of Ukraine and the United States discussed the actions of the Head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin regarding coordination of additional international support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Biden also said that the United States will allocate additional humanitarian aid of $225 million.
“The bravery, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian people continues to inspire the world. And the United States, together with our allies and partners, will not hesitate in our commitment to the Ukrainian people as they fight for their freedom,” the American President concluded.
Reminder: on Wednesday, Ministers of Defense of NATO countries meet to discuss possible additional deliveries of weapons to Ukraine in Brussels.
In addition, in Brussels there is a meeting of chiefs of staff and defense ministers in the “Ramstein-format,” which is dedicated to providing military assistance to Ukraine.
