The UK government is sending 13 protective armored vehicles to Ukraine to assist in the safe evacuation of civilians.

This assistance will be sent following a direct request from the Ukrainian government for safe and resilient transport for civilians in the combat zone.

In addition to evacuation, armored vehicles will be used to transport Ukrainian ministry officials to temporary command posts set up for government work and the rebuilding of key infrastructure, such as energy provision in besieged areas.

“This latest donation of armored vehicles will help protect innocent Ukrainians attempting to flee Russian shelling and support Ukrainian officials carrying out vital work,” said Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.

The Ukrainian police and the National Guard will also be using such vehicles.

The exact types of vehicles were not specified. It was noted that vehicles were upgraded in order to resist “all tactics which have been used by the Russian forces to slaughter civilians.”

These are highly specialized vehicles that have been modified with armor to resist high-velocity bullets, anti-personnel mines, and improvised explosive devices.

The vehicles will start arriving in the east of Ukraine in the coming days. The UK government logistics teams are working with partners on the ground to dispatch them as quickly as possible.

It was previously reported that the political and military officials in Israel are increasingly inclined to bolster the country’s military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. The growing evidence of Russian atrocities against Ukrainian civilians makes Israel’s shaky neutrality in the war less tenable.
