The Armed Forces of Ukraine received French anti-tank mines of the “Haut Pouvoir de Destruction” (HPD) series.
Photos with French mines were released by a Ukrainian military officer in a social media.
The Ukrainian serviceman said that they received mines of the HPD-2A2 version on the front lines.
The serviceman also released a video featuring the destruction of a tank of the Russian army, probably on this mine.
“A Russian tank, probably with ammunition, blew up on our mine and was finished off with a grenade launcher,” the serviceman said in a statement.
The mine is triggered by an induction sensor that detonates a cumulative charge when a vehicle passes by.
According to the manufacturer, the HPD-2A2 is capable of penetrating 150 mm armor. In addition, it can be hidden at a depth of up to one and a half meters.
HPD-2A2 includes a protection device sensitive to movement and signals coming from mine detectors.
After the expiration of the period of combat operation, the mine, if installed without a program (for 30 days), is self-neutralized, and if installed with a program (4-96 hours), it is self-destructed.
The design of the mine allows it to be removed after self-neutralization and sent to the factory for re-equipment.
As of 2006, about 400,000 mines of the HPD-2 series were created. It is in service with the French, Belgian and Norwegian armies.
It is also produced under license in Switzerland for the Swiss Army as “Panzerabwehrmine 88”.
