The Strela Research Institute (Tula) developed the system. The contract for the supply of the Russian Defense Ministry was signed in 2011. Deliveries began only in 2013. Russia used the system during the Russian invasions of Donbas and Syria.
The system includes:
• 1L260 mobile counter artillery locating radar system
• 1І38 Maintenance Machine
• Reserve power station ED60.
Seized radar is able to perform tasks autonomously. It can detect artillery shell at a range up to 15 km, mortars – 20 km, multiple launch rocket system – 30 km and operational tactical missile system – 40 km.
The Ukrainian State Enterprise “Scientific and Production Complex “Iskra” has designed similar but more advanced counter-battery radars – “Zoopark-2” and “Zoopark-3”.
